Let’s hear more:
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE INTERIORS INDUSTRY?
I started my interior design business officially 9 years ago and before that I renovated antique furniture.
WHAT’S YOUR SIGNATURE STYLE?
I love colour, pattern and fabrics. I’m definitely a maximalist when it comes to interiors. I love blending old with new to create interiors which are eclectic and full of character but with a contemporary edge.
WHAT’S YOUR GO TO TIP FOR INTERIOR NOVICES?
Don’t afraid to be bold and try something new, paint can always be changed. An easy way to change your look is to add inexpensive art to create a gallery wall to make a room feel really personal and quirky, without spending a fortune.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVE INTERIOR TRICK/TIP YOU USE ON PROJECTS OR IN YOUR OWN HOME?
Add lighting, lighting lighting. To change the atmosphere of a room I always add beautiful, low level lighting. I love over sized, statement lamps which both look amazing and can make a room feel cosy and inviting.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON AT THE MOMENT?
I am working on a stunning bedroom design using emerald green velvets, blush pinks and brass. I also seem to be doing a lot of ground floor reception rooms, one which I’m really excited about which is going to be classic with ‘an edge’. The client is really up for trying something totally new. We are using sage green walls which make colours really ‘pop’ against and we’ve chosen some stunning fabrics for the soft furnishings.
WHO / WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION?
I admire so many other interior designers. Susie Atkinson is a great inspiration. I am constantly inspired by hotels. I recently stayed at Soho House Barcelona and literally could have moved in – it was stunning. I can’t wait to stay at Beaverbrook in Surrey and have a snoop around the bedrooms.
DO YOU HAVE ANY TREND PREDICTIONS?
I think we’re going to see more muted colour this year – more pastels but with grey in them rather than the ice-cream, retro shades we have seen. Blush pink is staying around and we’ll see some really bold statement lighting for 2018.
WHICH ROOM IS YOUR FAVE IN YOUR HOME?
Without a doubt my living room which is my sanctuary. It’s the only room in the house which is exactly as I want it! Soft shades of blue and pink, velvet chairs and a vintage pink rug with touches of brass. It’s the only kid free zone in the house!
IF YOU COULD PICK ONE ITEM TO HAVE RIGHT NOW FROM THE OWT SHOP WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I am obsessed by this stunning chandelier And can’t wait to use it in a project! (Ideally in my own home!)
