In this post we’re going to take tips from a beautiful home tour to show you how to decorate like an interior designer. You know when you stumble across an image you fall in love with and 2 minutes later you’re deep into an inspiring home tour? This happens to us on a regular basis, despite our selective taste. But what if we could take tips from the best?
HOW TO DECORATE LIKE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER
This gorgeous home was designed by Amie Corley interiors which I discovered from this one amazing office image below. It turns out the rest of the interior project combines everything we’re currently loving. Gold, Brunschwig & Fils Les Touches, beaded chandeliers, and bamboo.
You can nab a lot of tips from this home tour, so let’s take a closer look at this dreamy project called “Clayton Lane” and we’ll lay out the top designer tricks for you, so that you can learn how to decorate like an interior designer.
1. SYMMETRY & DETAIL
Firstly, we are loving this glam office. If you look closely it’s the symmetry and detail which takes this study to the next level, and those blush and gold chairs of course. Painting the inside of cupboards a bold colour like this evergreen is a great idea for a DIY cupboard makeover, or adding a splash of colour to a neutral space.
2. STATEMENT LIGHTING
Secondly, statement lighting in the kitchen (or any room) is a fool proof way of decorating like an interior designer and adding instant style. Lighting can help to create a designated space. This turquoise beaded chandelier helps zone the dining area from the rest of the kitchen, as well as adding a pop of colour and some beachy vibes.
3. BOLD WALLPAPER
As we always say, a downstairs loo is a great place to experiment with bold colour or pattern. Wallpaper is a top tip for making a room look like it’s been designed like a pro. This bathroom is super luxe with Brunschwig & Fils wallpaper, styled with brass fittings. It’s safe to say you’ll never get bored of this wallpaper, it’s got to be one of the best.
4. MATERIALS & PATTERN
Focusing on the detail is key if you want to get a designer touch. This bamboo mirror combined wit an acrylic and brass bench are details worth taking note on. What a heavenly section of the bedroom. What we love about these two bedrooms is the statement carpet and rug bringing in bold pattern to balance out the soft wall colour.
If you want to bring in subtle accent colour to a room, this kitchen shows you how, with splashes of brass in subtle places like handles and the inside of these over hanging pendants.
A gold bamboo bed frame is what dreams are made of. We love how it’s been matched with soft grey hues and faux fur texture, don’t you?
5. PROVEN WINNING FORMULA
To summarise the beauty, this dining room is another area of the house proving that this table formula really works. Combine a round table with statement lighting and stylish chairs, and you’re on to an interior design winner. Remember, symmetry is key.
So, there you have it, some secret formulas to help you add the designer touch to your home. Obviously, interior designers are fantastically trained and this can be hard to emulate, but with these top tips you’ll be well on your way to a beautiful space.
